  • Start perennial aster seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before your last frost date, or direct-seed outdoors in the fall.

Cold stratification can improve germination. Place seeds in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag or container and refrigerate for 3-4 weeks before planting. Fall seeding does not require stratification.

Press seeds lightly into the soil and cover sparingly, as light aids germination. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-20 days. Cooler temperatures may delay germination.

After your last frost date, transplant seedlings into a sunny or part-shade location, spacing plants 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart. Rose Beauty Asters thrive in well-draining soil and are drought-tolerant once established.
