  • For earlier blooms, start Bells of Ireland seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date. Direct-seeding is easiest. Do so after the risk of frost has passed.

To improve germination, cold stratify seeds by placing them in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag or container, then refrigerate for 1-2 weeks before planting.

Sow seeds 1/8 inch (3 mm) deep, lightly covering with soil. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 14-21 days.

After the last frost date, transplant seedlings into a sunny location with well-draining soil, spacing plants 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart. Bells of Ireland thrive in full sun and require minimal care once established.
