  • Start Butterfly Flower seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date, or direct-seed outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.

Press seeds lightly into the soil and cover sparingly, as light aids germination. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-15 days. Germination may take longer in cooler conditions.

After your last frost date, transplant seedlings into a sunny or part-shade location, spacing plants 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) apart. Butterfly Flowers prefer well-draining soil and will thrive with regular watering during dry periods. For best results, deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering.

  • Schizanthus pinnatus
