Milkweed is the sole food source for monarch butterfly caterpillars and also attracts other butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Taller than showy milkweed, it makes an excellent cut flower.  Plants produce round, purple flowers from early to later summer.  Perennial, hardy to zone 3.
