  • Start soapwort seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date, or direct-seed outdoors in early spring when a light frost is still possible. For improved germination, cold stratify seeds by placing them in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag or container and refrigerating for 2-4 weeks before planting.

Press seeds lightly into the soil and cover sparingly. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-14 days. Cooler temperatures may extend germination time.

After the last frost, transplant seedlings into a sunny or part-sun location, spacing plants 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart. Soapwort thrives in well-drained soil and benefits from minimal maintenance, making it an excellent addition to rock gardens, borders, or naturalized areas.
